Maca’s Mechanical Repairs is a local mechanical workshop established in 1995 and still going strong.  Our highly skilled and experienced technicians are proud to provide honest and reliable service to the people of Port Macquarie and surrounding areas.

We offer a wide range of services on all vehicles including cars, light trucks, trailers and caravans.  These include servicing, inspection and repairs which are all delivered with genuine care.  We pride ourselves on giving you professional advice as well as value for money – cheaper is not always better, but we’ll give you straight advice and work our hardest to make every dollar you spend on your vehicle count.

We will take on most jobs, big or small, and we also have a trusted network of suppliers built over 25 years for more complex problems such as engine rebuilds.  If you’re looking for down to earth service, and you care about the safety of your vehicle, your family and other road users give us a call or come and visit the workshop.

When it comes to your car, you want to do everything you can to avoid the time, inconvenience and cost that often comes with major problems.  Regular servicing means that small issues don’t have the chance to become big ones.

We carry out all minor and major servicing – front to rear, top to bottom of your vehicle – to keep it running smoothly.  We are authorised to conduct log book servicing on all makes and models, and we will keep your warranty intact by ensuring all parts and fluids meet or exceed manufacturer guidelines.

We cover a range of inspections to meet your needs.  Pre-purchase inspections can give you a solid understanding of a vehicle’s current state, potentially saving time and money when buying a second hand car or light truck.  Safety inspections can give you peace of mind when it’s important to you – for example before taking off on holidays or just as part of your regular vehicle maintenance.

Rego checks

Maca’s Mechanical is licensed to provide NSW registration inspections (‘pink slips’) on all passenger vehicles, light trucks, trailers, caravans, motorcycles and LPG vehicles.  A registration check is a good opportunity to check on the safety of your vehicle – it can pick up small issues that need to be addressed or help you plan for some of the bigger jobs through the year, before they become expensive or inconvenient.  We also submit these as an e-safety check so your registration process can be done online

Steering and suspension repairs

A healthy suspension system keeps you safe, ensuring good contact between your wheels and the road surface, and makes your ride more comfortable.  Weak or worn suspension, steering or drive line parts can cause poor handling and vehicle control and contribute to premature tyre wear.

We do all steering and suspension repairs on regular and 4 x 4 vehicles, and only use quality parts.

Tyres and wheel alignments

We offer a full range of tyres depending on your budget and the type of driving you do.  We can fit, balance and rotate your tyres as well as carry out two and four-wheel alignments using the latest technology.

Your wheel alignment is one of the key maintenance factors to ensure that you get the most life out of your tyres.  Regular wheel alignments provide safe, predictable handling as well as a smooth and comfortable ride – and the improved mileage will mean more money in your pocket.

Brake repairs

The ability to stop a vehicle when you need to is essential to safety. Regular checks and maintenance, and using quality parts and fluids, will ensure your brakes are up to high standards.   If you are experiencing pulling to one side, vibration, squealing or any other worrying symptoms when braking give us a call so we can diagnose and fix your problem.

Radiators and cooling systems

The cooling system is one of the most important protective elements of your engine.  Engines operate at extremely high temperatures and the radiator, thermostat, water pump, fans, hoses and fluids work together to dissipate heat.  Overheating can be costly and inconvenient, so regular servicing and maintenance is key.

Clutches and Gear Boxes

As well as general repairs, our experienced mechanics can repair and replace clutches, gear boxes and all related parts.  This is where can notice significant differences in price if you shop around – quotes for ‘bigger jobs’ like these can vary depending on the workshop and vehicle.

Exhaust welding, repairs and replacement

We can diagnose, repair or replace exhaust systems on all makes and models – including Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) systems.  With 25 years + welding experience, there is no job too big or too small.

Trailers and caravans

Safety doesn’t stop at your tow ball!  We can inspect, service and repair all caravans and trailers.  This includes wheel bearing inspection and re-greasing, all suspension and braking systems, and caravan and trailer registration checks.

Timing belts and other major services

The timing belt or timing chain is a vital part of your engine – it controls the precise timing of pistons and valves, and is generally replaced every 60-100,000km depending on your vehicle’s service schedule.

This is one of the key items we look out for on pre-purchase inspections and vehicles with unknown history. While they’re a big job, failure to replace a timing belt can lead to major and expensive engine damage.
